Tuesday 17th April I had the day off from work to have a lesson with Juan and a meeting afterwards. We formed a team of four people to set up a clinic tour in which Juan will do the clinic. Also some new drumcases were delivered as an endorsement for Juan. It’s amazing what one can achieve by being professional about everything and still keep a positive, friendly and sincere spirit. You will find out lots more about this concept as we are working hard on the preparations. Thursday 19 April I went with Juan to sign an endorsement contract for Audio Technica microphones, good stuff!!! So we’re really on a roll now! Seems like many things come toghether… I just love this kind of energy that we have going now. It’s all about music but not only performing, the whole shabang around it is just as important and fun to do! April 4th 2012: After a (feel)good movie with Carol Wednesday night, I had to get up at 3:00 in the morning to catch my flight to Napoli where I was to meet up with Juan van Emmerloot (www.drummingsecrets.com) who’s doing The power of Three tour with Stef Burns (www.stefburns.com) and Billy Sheehan (www.billysheehan.com) through Italy. The travel went smooth, everything on time, no problems. From Napoli airport I took a taxi to the hotel where the band and I were to meet later that day as their gig is in Goodfellas. I had lots of time to explore the city, so I took the cable train down to the city centre only to be amazed by the contradictions in this place! I officially declare Napoli the city where one can expect the unexpected. For instance standing on a four way corner, look to your left, you’ll see a beautiful wide lane with well taken care of buildings and trees, then look to your right and you’ll see a small steep alley with washing hanging out on the balconies, garbage on every corner etc. This place has only one rule, there are no rules! Hardly any traffic light works although there are plenty… I took a walk through the alley’s and found the most interesting little shops, like musical instruments, shops full of instruments in one alley for about 200 metres! Go around the corner, you see a shop with the most variety of pasta’s in all colours, shapes and sizes. I I wouldn’t recommend this place to people who are suffering from claustrofobia. I enjoyed myself I must say....

31st March, I’ve been asked to capture a gig on my camera of a long time friend, my first drumteacher from about 30 years ago. This is his new band called South side Blues Revue. This actually also was the first time I’ve seen Ruud play live!! So for me it was business and pleasure at the same time, what a great life I have!!! The venue was an indoor festival taking place in Boskoop, Netherlands. Actually, normally a whole night of blues doesn’t really become me, but these guys kept my attention through the whole gig. As this was their first major gig in this setting I feel that they have a lot of potential! It was most entertaining seeing these guys doing their thing on stage. The next post will be about the Power of Three tour with Stef Burns, Billy Sheehan and Juan van Emmerloot, also a good friend, excellent drummer and my teacher nowadays. 🙂 No more guesses about my main instrument I suppose… Hope to see you on my next post!
